Samsung Reclaims Top Spot from Apple in the Smartphone Market in Q1 2023

South Korean technology giant Samsung had fallen behind Apple in the smartphone market in the fourth quarter of 2022, but with the release of the Q1 2023 report, the company has regained its top position. The prices of Google Pixel 7a and Pixel Fold have been leaked, with Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi in the top three positions, according to research firm Canalys. Samsung has climbed to the top spot with a 22% market share, while Apple holds second place with a 21% market share. Xiaomi has maintained its third place, although it has lost some market percentage compared to the previous year. OPPO has shown a slight increase in market percentage.

According to the research firm, the smartphone market has experienced a 12% decline with less than 300 million sales in this quarter. Although Samsung was also in the first place in the first quarter of the previous year, it fell behind Apple in the fourth quarter of the same year. However, the sales of the Galaxy S23 series, which were 70% higher than the Galaxy S22, seem to have worked in favor of the South Korean company. Despite a significant decline in the smartphone market in recent years, Canalys predicts that the market will stabilize by the end of the year.
